
Founder of Cock-Up Theatre
Emma is a Slovak-Romanian producer, writer, stand-up comedian, and Executive Producer of Cock-Up Theatre. She has a passion for multidisciplinary performance, digital media, and fringe theatre. She has worked on small-scale productions across London, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. With experience in theatre, event management, and marketing from roles at Renew Europe and Theatre Deli, Emma recently completed an MA in Creative Producing at Mountview and aims to amplify overlooked stories on a global stage.
Extracts of Emma's work have been featured at Int.eruption Theatre's Scratch event (Drayton Arms) and Psychonaut Theatre's W.I.G of Life Scratch night (Riverside Studios). Her biographical play, Targoviste Strays, was showcased at Mountview for VIEW Festival 2024. Additionally, Emma has experience writing stand-up comedy, performing at comedy nights like TNT, Queer Comedy, Groovie Comedy, and Comedy Freaks.
New, one-woman, comedy work-in-progress navigating unemployment, migrant identity, loneliness and love through a modern rendition of 'The Little Mermaid'. 'SHARK H8TER' is premiering at PSYCHONAUT THEATRE Company's Scratch Event on February 8 2025, with direction from Lilly Butcher, and performed by Emma Novak.
About the Production:
23, bisexual, and unemployed with no prospects– (former) Princess Ariel sets out on a quest to find true love, navigating the murky, hopeless waters of the 2025 dating pool. This absurd, one-woman piece is a whirl of comedy, song and movement as Ariel embarks on a journey of self-discovery, pleasure and hopefully, a UK Visa.
New, research-based multidisciplinary work-in-progress navigating grief, migrant identity, loneliness and queer relationships. 'Passing Through' is premiering at Int(eruption) Theatre Company's Scratch Event October 20th, performed by Leonie Bolzern and Morwenna Brown.
About the Production:
Following her mother’s death, Jasmina is torn between her past and the present. Stricken with grief, she distances herself from her girlfriend, G, seeking comfort in the reappearance of her childhood boyfriend, Daniel. As Jasmina retraces the choices that brought her to London, G fights to keep her grounded in reality.
Wrote and produced Targoviste Strays for VIEW Festival 2024 as part of Mountview's producer showcase. The production was directed by Hector Smith and performed by Samuel Collins-Webb.
About the Production:
Targoviste Strays is an intimate, biographical solo show navigating the experiences of a young poet in communist Romania, told through letters to his mother. Targoviste Strays delves into the reality of censorship, oppression and military re-education using elements of poetry, movement and sound.
Co-produced student film Goodnight, Moon (2024) directed by Tom Collins. Supported the project as Line Producer in collaboration with Supervising Producer Charis Winter and Mountview staff.
Produced 'Hunting Cockroaches' written by Janusz Glowacki for MA Director's Showcase 2024. The production was an English version of the original play, directed by Anna Galek. The play premiered at The Backstage Theatre, in June 2024.
About The Play:
Hunting Cockroaches by Janusz Glowacki is a witty, surreal comedy about a Polish immigrant couple grappling with their past and present, as Anka, a former actress, faces barriers due to her accent, while Jan, a once-renowned writer, struggles with creative paralysis.
Co-produced a new comedy/scratch event with Tom Brown and Juliet Johnson. The scratch event featured stand-up comedians and writers alike, testing new material in a safe and welcoming environment.
The event featured BINGE FRINGE 2024 Queer Performer winner Freddie Haberfellner, WENA finalist 24 Jen Zheng and comedians Laura Moss and Beth Fox.
Curated and produced 'Slovakia From Within: An Immersive Exhibition' in collaboration with Slovak Theatre In London. The exhibition featured traditional Slovak folk clothing, art by Slovak artists living abroad and interactive displays of Slovak food.
